Our Rewilding Site Near Tauche
eMission-X owns a natural area of approximately 1,100 m² near Tauche in Brandenburg.
A distinctive feature of the property is its location directly adjacent to the decommissioned Falkenberg–Beeskow railroad line.
Where traffic and technical infrastructure once shaped the landscape, woodlands, grasses, and wild plants can now thrive once again along the former railroad line.
Our site is intended to remain part of this natural development.
Natural Succession Instead of Management
There is no agricultural or forestry activity on the property. Regular maintenance or timber harvesting is not planned.
Nor are any major measures for accelerated renaturation currently necessary.
Instead, we are allowing the existing vegetation to continue growing as independently as possible and observing how the area changes over time.
Nature Along Former Infrastructure
Disused railroad tracks are of interest from a rewilding perspective because areas that were originally shaped by human activity can be reclaimed by natural processes once they are abandoned.
Grasses and wild herbs colonize open areas, shrubs spread, and over time, additional woody structures can develop.
This is precisely the development we want to allow on our site near Tauche—without prescribing a specific end state.
Here, rewilding means above all: not using the land
Tauche is a good example of how rewilding does not necessarily mean planting trees or implementing extensive measures.
The vegetation is already present and can continue to develop.
Our most important measure is therefore the permanent cessation of economic use:
Do not manage the land. Do not use it for forestry. Let nature take its course.
Permanent Space for Nature
The approximately 1,100 m² area remains the property of eMission-X and is permanently removed from commercial use.
This creates a small natural area along a former railroad line, whose future development will not be dictated by commercial use.
In this way, Tauche also follows our rewilding principle:
Buy land. Cease use. Let nature take its course.

The Falkenberg–Beeskow railroad line is an approximately 113 km-long branch line in Brandenburg that ran from Falkenberg (Elster) through Luckau and Lübben (Niederl.), among other places, to Beeskow. Today, passenger service has been discontinued, though parts of the line are still used for freight transport (though not the section we own)
