Rewilding Areas in the Löwenberger Land Region / Brandenburg

4,112 m² of nature spread across ten individual parcels

Location: Löwenberger Land, Brandenburg – Hoppenrade, Linde, and Grieben
Habitat: Small natural areas within a predominantly agricultural landscape
Size: A total of 4,112 m² across 10 parcels
Rewilding: Cessation of commercial use and natural succession
Status: Secured; individual parcels are currently undergoing land readjustment proceedings

Our Rewilding Areas in the Löwenberger Land

eMission-X currently owns ten smaller parcels in the Löwenberger Land region, located in the districts of Hoppenrade, Linde, and Grieben.

Together, the areas total 4,112 m².

Unlike some of our larger rewilding projects, this is not a contiguous natural area. The parcels are scattered throughout a landscape dominated by agriculture.

This is precisely why the Löwenberger Land is an interesting example for us of how even many small plots of land can permanently create space for nature.

Small areas interspersed with agricultural land

eMission-X does not engage in any agricultural or other commercial use of our properties.

Rather than imposing a specific condition, the areas are allowed to develop as independently as possible.

Grasses, wild herbs, shrubs, and trees can change and spread through natural succession.

Major measures to kickstart renaturation are currently not necessary on most of these areas.

Ten Properties—and a Land Readjustment Project

A distinctive feature of our land in the Löwenberger Land region is the ongoing land consolidation process.

As a result, individual parcels may be reorganized, consolidated, or exchanged for other areas. Therefore, the location and layout of our land holdings may still change as the process unfolds.

For us, it is not crucial that every single parcel of land remain permanently in its exact current location.

What matters is the result:

The natural area secured for rewilding should be preserved in the long term.

Land readjustment can even be an opportunity to create larger or more contiguous natural areas from several small and scattered parcels.

Rewilding does not always require large parcels of land

The areas in the Löwenberger Land region illustrate another approach to our work.

Not every plot of land needs to be several hectares in size to be permanently removed from economic use.

Even smaller areas can change without regular management and once again be shaped more strongly by natural processes.

If opportunities arise during land consolidation to consolidate areas in a meaningful way or to exchange them for parcels better suited to rewilding, we want to take advantage of them.

Permanently creating more space for nature

Regardless of how individual parcels change as a result of land consolidation, our goal remains the same:

to permanently remove land from commercial use and leave it to natural development.

Thus, our project in the Löwenberger Land also follows the fundamental principle of eMission-X:

Buy land. End use. Let nature take its course.
