WHO * WHAT * is the UN Decade
The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021–2030) is a global initiative of the United Nations. It calls for an end to the destruction of nature, the restoration of damaged habitats, and raising awareness of intact ecosystems.
The United Nations has declared the years 2021 through 2030 the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration!
The clear call to action:
Now is the time to stop the destruction of ecosystems worldwide and to preserve and restore intact habitats.

Award in the 2026 UN Decade Competition on the topic of “Pollinator Populations” in the Renaturation category
eMission-X was recognized as a TOP 10 project in the UN Decade Competition 2026 on the topic of “Pollinator Populations” in the Renaturation category.

As part of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021–2030), the “Rewilding Wusseken” project by eMission-X gGmbH was selected as one of Germany’s top 10 projects.
The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration aims to restore damaged ecosystems worldwide, halt the loss of biodiversity, and highlight successful approaches.
The activities of the UN Decade in Germany are supported by a scientific advisory board. The board consists of 17 renowned scientists representing various ecosystem fields as well as perspectives from the social and cultural sciences.
The inclusion of “Rewilding Wusseken” among Germany’s top 10 projects is a special honor for us. It demonstrates that our approach—securing land for the long term and allowing natural processes to resume—is recognized as a valuable contribution to ecosystem restoration.
