Entry in the species database of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Nature Conservation Authority

eMission-X – Notification to the Nature Conservation Authorities of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

As part of our work on August 23, 2026 (see post: “Fieldwork in Klein Breesen / Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania”) and following our sightings there of common toads and the small water frog, we reported these findings to the nature conservation authorities of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

On August 24, 2026, eMission-X sent a letter requesting that the species be added to the species database.

The two species in question are the common toad (Bufo bufo) and the Lesser Water Frog (Pelophylax lessonae).

What data is included in the nature conservation authority’s species database?

The species database of the nature conservation authorities in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (MV) is designed to record the state of nature and the landscape, as well as changes in the flora and fauna and their habitats. The database is maintained by the State Office for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Geology (LUNG).

The information is provided by various sources. To this end, the nature conservation authority also calls on all citizens to contribute, so that as much data as possible can be included in the species database and an accurate picture of the state of nature can be painted.

Feedback and Confirmation of Inclusion in the Species Database

On August 31, 2026, eMission-X received notification that the specified species had been added to the database.

Our Contribution

To populate the database, the Nature Conservation Authority of the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania relies on reports from a wide variety of sources and organizations. To this end, a reporting portal is provided on a separate page of the authority’s website.
We at eMission-X hope that our work will have an impact and that the restoration of our land will help us contribute further reports to populate the species database.
